LOL... I love how all of us have coined it the mystery box. BriMan knows that they will paint the DD track, you know that there are 50 robo arms... but no one knows anything about the south eastern corner of THE building... and the so called "mystery box".
I know one thing based on common sense. It is not an extended cue or an exit route. There is not one extended cue or exit in Orlando that is that heavily themed. Spider Man is a tin roof and the exit is blah. DD is an outdoor forest of trees.
No one has asked this question however... we have ONE door... where is the other end... Is the door on the box the end or the beginning?
Based on the fully themed eastern side of the box, (the part that faces JP) I think it is possible that one will enter the building through the grand entrance in the painting and see great things and then for a short time go outside on the eastern end and come around the box to the ramps and move upwards to either more grand rooms or the final ride cue, or both.
David, you are the man! Thanks much for the shots. They are fantastic.

Thanks for the great shots Disneyhead. This project is amazing in so many aspects. They've been working on this very quickly. There's a lot of new stuff since Sunday even. I believe this can easily soft open before Spring.
Thanks to Disneyhead's close-ups we can see that the clock tower still has the hole where either a clock or pendulum will go. Dumbledore's office, the courtyard, and the bridge/aqueduct looking thing(?) look awesome! Those are wires sticking out of the arch and station, right? Is that part of the ground under the Hogwarts Express already cobbled? Things are moving along nicely, I don't know much about construction, but I predict about 3 months maximum on construction, then a bit for testing/rehearsals that sort of thing, depending on what is left that we cannot see (insides of buildings). First day of Spring is March 20, I hope it's not too long after that!
For anybody who's wondering, as far as I know, basic un-painted structural work has been done on the interior. The track is completed.
This is something I heard from a source, so please take with a grain of salt as always. The source said that the ride vehicles have had no issues cycling the track anymore. Originally, there was some problems and it would break down before completing a full cycle. Looks like that has been rectified as of now.
Yes. And I have heard something similar to what BriMan was told. I was told that the vehicles they were using for tests weren't making it through the circuit due to a problem with the track...and this has since been fixed.
And from what I know, there is just as much work going on inside the Forbidden Journey show building as there is on Hogwarts or in Hogsmeade.
has anyone given any more thought to the "premise" of the dark ride? i know someone had mentioned floo powder as a way of transitioning from scene to scene once the ride begins (not the pre show/queue). this seemed like a good prediction taking into account the upward mobility of a robo arm. someone else commented after seeing the 1min video referring to "the chaos of harry's life" that maybe the pensieve is the transition. i think this is highly likely. of course we won't be dipping our heads in bowls but it's still a good idea.
he anyone confirmed or unconfirmed if the ride will be in 3d? I was watching half blood prince and when i saw luna wearing the spectrespecs, i thought to myself that they would be a clever way o work in having to wear 3d glasses without disturbing the whole hp feel and keeping with the theming.
My best bet is that Harry (or possibly Ron, Hermione, or even Dumbledore) are looking back on their years at Hogwarts through the pensieve and SOMEHOW Florida tourists on an enchanted bench are thrown into all of the action and backstory of the novels.
Some other theories (most have probably been mentioned before):
1)Professor Flitwick says "wingardium leviosa", the levitation spell, at the loading station and THEN the bench lifts off
2)or perhaps, like on Spidey, you're shown a brief scene of the ride and quickly whisked of to the next one by the vehicle in a very disorienting process.
I visit this site mostly every day (best WWOHP updates) and finally thought I would post these ideas on the Forbidden Journey. Below is my vision of the Forbidden Journey:
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey Guess (I had heard it contains over a dozen scenes, so 12+)
The entrance queue could show the parts of Harry Potter that wouldn’t be too exciting on the actual ride. Harry trying to get his letters, invited to Hogwarts, sorting ceremony, classrooms (maybe interact with the subjects! Transfiguration, Potions, Defence against the Dark-Arts, Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures etc, using the Personalized Ollivanders wands! Yet possibly not doing the subjects: Muggle Studies, Divination, History of Magic, WITH Professor Binns, fun... You could walk though Hallways, past flickering torches, through secret passages, up the Grand Staircase, Greenhouses, Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom, Gryffindor tower, Dungeons, Dumbledore’s office, Divination tower, Room of Requirement, could all be the memorable parts from the queue to be able to walk through. With the Grand Staircase, to make it move safely, it could be like one of the HP5 games, you only walk on the immobile staircases, the rest are moving and creaking around you. Then load the seats of the ride in the Great Hall (candles, ghosts enchanted ceiling and all), turn a corner, full blackness, apart from a circular opening ahead, the Pensieve, preferably the design from HP6, swirling with flashes from the films and what is in the ride ahead, then go though the giant Pensieve into Harry's memories? Lights, sound, colours, seats spinning, then, the ride begins. Below is what the actual ride could feature (a mixture of animatronics and CGI):
1. Harry’s first game of Quidditch - Just a good, fast game, a great opening scene, with commentating from Lee Jordan (Luna (best HP character) would be great commentating but that isn’t until HP6). Camera perspective based following Harry from behind, CGI = (Philosopher's Stone)
2. The Journey through the Trapdoor - Fluffy, Devils Snare, Keys, Chess, Troll? (Not in movie), Snape’s potions? (Not in movie) = (Philosopher's Stone)
3. The Forbidden forest – Aragog and his family, Fang, Flying Car = (Chamber of Secrets)
4. Chamber of Secrets - Start off in Moaning Myrtle's Bathroom, enter sink, goes through pipes, Lockhart etc. = (Chamber of Secrets)
5. Knight Bus - Flying through London, probably just CGI = (Prisoner of Azkaban)
6. Whomping Willow/Werewolf/Dementor Scene – should be based on the book, it's more detailed (the movie is great though…) = (Prisoner of Azkaban)
7. Quidditch World Cup - Port Key from hill too the campsite, show the short (or part of) game of Quidditch played UNLIKE movie, show Krum, Veela etc = (Goblet of Fire)
8. The Lake Challenge - not actually underwater (obviously), just light and temperature effects etc, mere people, Krum shark head, bubble-headed Fleur and Cedric etc = (Goblet of Fire)
9. The Maze/Graveyard - Based of book with Sphinx and Blast ended Skrewts etc. Maybe the attacking hedges...? CGI (maze), animatronics (graveyard) = (Goblet of Fire)
10. Thestrals Flying to London(GGI)/Ministry of Magic/Department of Mysteries - Have a mixture from book and film in the Department of Mysteries = (Order of the Phoenix)
11. The Cave scene/Dumbledore’s Death - make it really scary. Unlike in the movie, make the Inferi look like dead people, not Gollum-y / Smeagle-ish, CGI = (Half-Blood Prince)
12. They wouldn’t give too much away before the movies HP7: Part I, and Part II are released, but possibly – Gringotts – roller coaster to Bellatrix Lestranges’ vault, dragon flies through ceiling (like everyone has suggested) = (Deathly Hallows)
13. The Final Battle? - They would have to read the script of the movie first, or maybe the movie scene could be based on the ride? = (Deathly Hallows)
The riders could exit off a different platform from where they entered, go through more hallways, rooms, staircases, see talking portraits etc. The exit could be though Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated goods (to the right of the entrance) to be tempted by remote control golden snitches, Marauders maps, fanged Frisbees etc.
What would your top 13 be?
