For heavens sake people, Flight of the Hippogriff is a kiddie coaster! I think it is a very cool concept that it is training machine for very young wizards created by Hagrid.

And I am quite sure that Hagrid isn't going to be there training the young wizards as the deal with WB and Rowling is that there will be no people portraying actual characters from the books present anywhere in the WWOHP.

Also, they can't have EVERYONE bow to the hippogriff one at a time.

It could be awkward for a lot of older kids and I know it would be awkward for me because my family likes HP, but they don't love it like we all do lol.

I have always hoped there would be such an arch for entry from JP but artwork was never such that we could see it.
I was referring to the building structure that is attached to the new arch. It seems relatively small, width wise, compared to other structures, it only seems about as wide as the entrance arch, maybe a little wider. It looks like it will have chimneys like the other buildings but I don't think it will house any shops or anything much larger than lockers or vending machines.

Yeah, I don't really want to bow to a hippogriff in front of a bunch of people, and if people are getting it wrong and taking up loads of time just trying to bow to an animatronic animal, that will be upsetting, but how hard is it to bow. I don't know, I'm torn.

Just like the daily bugle really does not check for media background, you will not be required to bow to a hippogriff.

Sometimes as detailed as things are and as much as I love them, you have to realize things do not translate into the theme park world.

The area will be hagrid's design to safely train people who to ride on a hippogriff. Pretty clever disguise for a kiddie coaster if you ask me.

Definately. Almost the same as the insertion of Mr. Potato Head inside of the Toy Story Mania queue, but with a different theme. Seeing as though this is a multi-million dollar project, I cannot choose between TSM or HP since both can be designed to such an intricate extent where they could be the same. Disney has the upper hand at the moment(Especially with the revamped PoTC animatronics), but maybe it can be over-throwned, or maybe the Hippogriffs will be just as good if or better than the memorable magic of Disney. I'm not a psychic per say, But I can definitely foreshadow that to the point of 2010 to '11 that Fantasyland's newest expansions will probably bring a valence to Universal's stocks, and/or attendance. As Disneyhead stated, and in the words of A Day To Remember: "This is a battleground."

I've never seen Universal use the peat moss method. Is this Universal's first mountain?

Aaah... well, they had to complete the curve past the bathrooms to create the vision of the length of the street... plus, they had to be much shorter buildings to create A: the illusion of the length to the street and B: low enough to allow a clear view of Hogwarts in the distance.

As they are sooooooo small and narrow in size. They may be facades only, they may have views inside that show yet another suggested storefront in Hogsmeade from the books. Or they could just be stall like businesses to sell more stuff and coke. I loathe the arcade junk of toon town, amity, Disney's Dinoland and yes, the former medieval lost continent. I cannot be alone in this view.

Who said it is peat moss? Unlikely Uni would use an organic material that fragile that would rot in the florida sun. It is more likely a synthetic. Also this stuff is done in layers. People thought "ooooh, the wall around three broomsticks is beige... then oooh, it is dark brown..." It is layering with transparency... look closely, you can see the beige in spots where the dark brown is... now there will be even more color added to differentiate the individual stones. Rembrandt is one of the first to master this technique called glazing. Only this is on an industrial scale. Great companies such as Nassal will push this to max if the budget permits.

Edit: Ok ok... I cannot shut up. I think the artists went way overboard with the dirt and grime rain runoff on the main tower. It is just too dark and heavy. I searched the web for all neo-gothic and medieval castle pictures in GB... and while it does happen, sometimes it doesn't, but it never happens to the extent they have laid on. I believe it may be revisited in the next few months before opening. If not... it is too much, and not seen in the movies or real life.

Well I wouldn't call it a mountain, but essentially yes it is.

This is astounding and awe-inspiring work for their first mountain. It really makes me go back to my venerable copies, and think, wow.

Hello fine people of the interwebs! I have just returned from a journey to Pottervile! Unfortunately it rained and I didn't have the camera out so you'll just have to take my word for it on this update.

Important things to note: I believe the structure for the walkway around the great hall is now going up, the roof is being placed on the red steel structure (which by the way was finished with welding just before the park opened, it smelled good and fresh!), painting and sculpting of the wall below the Three Broomsticks was done at a good clip today, almost done.

Perhaps less important notes, the deuling dragons interior queue work has been started, and they are preserving the old wooden style handrails with plastic bags. Embarassingly, I got lost and couldn't backtrack my way into the more detailed portion of the line. (They left the door open for me to wander in, your fault Uni!)

Let me tell you about this construction team though, they don't mess around. People work full speed ahead in the rain and don't even care. That's dedication and that's why they are purportedly so far ahead of schedule.

I think it's time for a photo update this weekend, and if I had a camera I would have definitely gotten a picture inside the upstairs Hogsmeade buildings. They have the windows open upstairs, but you need a zoom lens to get a good look in.

I love the snow on the roofs. I too went to Islands of Advenure when it was raining. I couldn't get any pictures with my camera but I noticed too the mossy layer on the cliffs of Hogwarts. When I was there I thought they looked like they were going to add a slightly greener layer on top of the brownish layer. Flight of the Hippogriff's color, though I hope they paint it a nice green instead of sliver, still looks kind of good. When I was there it seemed like the red structure was about to take over the walkway to Dueling Dragons. Just wanted to recount what I saw!:yum:

Thanks for the update Shellemonster! (and Harry Fan!)

So you didn't see anything else in the Dragons' queue?

^^That's right, I forgot about the moss! Very good.

^Nah, in fact it was strange. I walked in a regular seeming door and eventually ended up in the loading station behind the work walls. There were work lights, fans paint, etc and an open door out to a work trailer area, but I didn't see the opening that led back into the earlier queue. Choose thy fate was gone.

Nice pictures once again BriMan! The walkway is going up.

Anyone want to bet on when the walkway is done? I say next weekend. Thats how fast and confident I feel the construction workers are.
