Universal Orlando has filed plans to add 4,000 hotel rooms to the now-closed Wet ‘n Wild property.
First reported by the Orlando Sentinel, the plans confirm rumors and speculation of Universal adding more hotels to the property. In addition to the 4,000 rooms, the documents show that 3 parking garages are also planned. What isn’t clarified is if this is one huge hotel, or separate.

The plans submitted for Universal’s future hotel(s). The outlines show what Universal has reserved for hotel space, with the darker blue boxes indicating parking garages.

In recent years, Universal has focused on growing their on-site hotel line-up as they continue to grow as a resort; as work is currently finishing up on the Cabana Bay tower expansion, and work just got underway for the new Aventura hotel – which opens in 2018.

Located at the corner of International Drive and Universal Boulevard, Wet ‘n Wild closed in December 2016 due to Universal’s new water park, Volcano Bay, opening May 25, 2017. As the hotel is not officially announced, there is no word yet on the theme, opening time frame, or other specifics. Since the property is located off the main site, there is also no indication on how Universal will transport guests between both locations.
